Context of practice seminar 4

Animation in the commercial realm

You can input your own style into commercial work but you have to consider money and audience.
using animation in advertising makes it  more memorable and it appeals to a broader audience.
We looked at Matches- an appeal by Arthur Melbourn. It is the oldest animated advert done frame by frame. And it was English! It was a man built out of matches drawing on a blackboard. It was really cool and people were wowed by it!
Animation is impressive. If you're impressed, you might be more inclined to buy the product.
Then we looked at Rabbit and Hare- John lewis. I thought it was beautifully done but I don't think the music was right for it although it was just as lovely and I do like the song on its own.
I like how the style was like a cross between Brother bear, and Watership down.
Next we looked at Ant and Decs Christmas animated advert with the gingerbread man. This one was more obviously designed for Morrison because it had more humour in it and there was lots of examples of food everywhere not to mention the M of the apron.
I feel that the John Lewis advert is more like art in it's own right then they stuck the John Lewis logo at the end.
These adverts separate the  classes as in where you can afford to shop. John lewis is higher  budget and its different and more memorable.

After this we looked at animal crossing. We noticed it was aimed at a young audience, employs life lessons such as working to earn money, introduces values such as social skills and working and cleaning, mortgages and consumerism. It also shows that it's hard to achieve a level of luxury and you have to work for it.
