COP animation

"The character design of Flynn came from the process which was called the 'hot man meeting' by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, during which they set up a meeting with all of the female employees of the studio in one room and asked them for their opinions of what made a man good looking in order to create Flynn's character design with features such as eye color, hair color and style and body type. Video footage showed concept art and photos of various male celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt, David Beckham and Gene Kelly on the walls of the room.

Disney's expert design team is responsible for exploring all possible options for creating the look and appeal of a character. It all begins with a blank sheet of paper or tablet screen. Working with cues from the story team and notes from the director, this department is charged with helping to capture the right look to support the emotional core of the character, and define who that character is. Artists, modelers, CharTD, Look all contribute to this integral part of telling our stories. "

This is pretty much all I could find on the process of designing characters that Disney goes through. I was trying to find out because my idea for my Cop animation is that there would be a guy drawing on a black board and people sitting round a table giving advice and judging etc. I think this could still work because they do have other people input and they use the story books to start them off etc.
